Analysis of a Trailer: Picture This

The trailer begins with a long shot of a guy walking down a corridor and then cuts to a close up of a girl. The girls is wearing glasses so gives the idea of her being geeky and unpopular , she's looks fascinated by the guy and she sighs and is smiling. There is also a upbeat non-diegetic piece of music. She is then tripped up by a blonde girl, who yells 'granny panties', suggesting she's a bit of a bully, and the traditional bitchy girl. The film production company names then comes up on screen. A voice over then comes in over the top telling us about the main character, supporting the ideas we got from the first time we see out main character. Clips of the film continue whilst the narrator continues to tell us about the film. The music also changes in tempo to fit the clips. The narrator then tells us the film stars Ashley Tisdale from High School Musical. This is often used as usually the actors or the film will already have an audience that they can bring to the film. The film titles come up, saying Ashley Tisdale, then finally the film title 'Picture This'.

It is important to look at classifications of films to know what is in a film and who is the audience to view it. Films of a teen genre usually range of a British certificate rating of PG or 12/12a.

Below are the guildlines of a PG and 12/12a from the official BBFC website.

It is important to consider this before scripting my trailer, and deciding what scenes to show for my trailer so it is suitable for the target audience.

Film Treatment

Mollie Fletcher is our protagonist of the film. Mollie and her boyfriend Nate Tyler are the school sweethearts, leaving the popular girls extremely jealous, especially when Nate is the school heartthrob too. Things start not going so well for Mollie and Nate, and after a heated argument things look like they are coming to an end. Mollie heads home upset, goes into a range and get's rid of everything that reminds her of Nate. She comes across her phone and scrolls down her contact list to the name "Nate", with a tap of a button she deletes his name and number from her phone.
The next day in school Mollie and her best friend Lilly Jones head to class and see posters plastered over the school saying 'Nate Tyler: MISSING', and in Mollie's class are the police. Mollie is upset by this after the last time she saw him they had argued. After being interviewed by the police Mollie sits and thinks and explains to Lilly how could Nate just go missing, he hadn't even left his house. Mollie and Lilly decide to find out what has happened to Nate. After some detective work they discover Nate was on webcam at the time to a friend when he just vanished. Mollie looks at the time Nate 'vanished' and realizes it was the time she's deleted his name from her phone. She explains this to Lilly.
Did Mollie really delete Nate?
Will they ever be able to find him again?
