Evaluation

How did you use media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages?

I have used many different technologies and different software to plan and create my products. I began with using Blogger to record and track my research and planning. Using blogger allows me put links to other Internet sites I’ve used for research and also I am able to embed videos from YouTube direct to my blog. YouTube is a great Internet recourse of video footage. Giving myself easy access to trailers online. Blogger also allows other Internet users to comment on my posts on blogger giving instant feedback, one of the aspects of web 2.0. Web 2.0 is the second generation of the internet, meaning users can interact with the internet, rather than just consume information, users can also become producers as well. Another great advantage of blogger is it’s accessibility.
I filmed my main task using a video camera. The video camera is good to use as it is small and lightweight and allows me to film easily. I also used a tripod whilst filming to hold a steady shoot. The camera records onto tape, which can be capture direct to the computer. I used Adobe Premier Pro to edit my trailer. Premier Pro is a good piece of software that allowed me to edit my video footage with ease. I was able to shorten clips, changed brightness and also slow and speed up clips. It’s also aloud me to put in my music for my trailer and my additional voice over.
To record my voice over I used Apple’s garage band. Using an additional microphone I could record the voice over straight to the computer, and adjust pitch, and cut the clips down. I could the save this as a MP3 file and open it into Premier Pro.
To complete my ancillary tasks I used Adobe Photoshop. Firstly I look my images for my film poster and magazine in the studio and took my images using a Canon EOS 350d SLR camera. Using Photoshop allows me to manipulate my images easily. For my film poster as was able to change how transparent the character Nate on the poster to give to effect of him being ‘deleted’ to coincide with my trailer. I could also add texts to the image. The process was also similar to creating my film magazine cover. I just used more text colours and fonts, and also coloured boxes for texts. Photoshop allows you build layers when creating your image to make it easy to edit a single part of it at a time. I can then save my final outcomes as JPEG’s, which I can then upload straight to blogger.
